Quietly Captivating

Liya Wang doesn’t need loud marketing. With quiet composure, she has spent the last few years securing herself a place in the world of classical piano. Any doubts that she belongs on stage were cast aside at the latest when she won the first prize and the Audience Award at the ARD International Music Competition. This and other achievements are testimony to her fine pianistic intuition, which enables her to strike a perfect balance between rigidity and freedom, thus skillfully combining structural clarity with emotional spontaneity. In our series of concerts featuring upcoming talented pianists, she hopes to enchant us with a programme cleverly designed to create a sense of timelessness as we listen to Schubert Songs transcribed by Liszt, Schumann’s deeply romantic Davidsbündlertänze and the Three Intermezzi for Piano by Brahms.
