Infectiously Inspirational
Let yourself be intoxicated by the incredible sound of accordion star Martynas Levickis as he takes us on an epic journey all the way across the Atlantic and back. Levickis is a native of Lithuania and shares his roots with Philip Glass and Aaron Copland as well as a love of jazz with George Gershwin. He is accompanied on his musical expedition to North America by The Knights from New York, an ensemble of adventurous musicians founded by Colin and Eric Jacobsen. The orchestra is a perfect partner for Levickis. Its players are inspired by the same passion for experimenting with classical, jazz and folk elements, mixing new musical cocktails and compiling thrilling concert programmes. This concert’s centrepiece is Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, one of the first works to make jazz acceptable in the great concert halls of the world and now a true classic.
