Originally built in 1926 as a planetarium, the city-famous hemisphere became a concert hall with a good 1800 seats in the 1970s. In 2005, the conservative colour scheme of the large concert hall gave way to a modern ambience in metallic blue. The acoustics are magnificent thanks to sophisticated and ingenious sound deflection. Thanks to LEDs and a sophisticated lighting concept, the Tonhalle is once again visually what it always was: a ‘planetarium of music’ and a stage for great moments of classical music.

The Robert Schumann Hall with its 800 seats is embedded in the Museum Kunstpalast in the middle of the Ehrenhof cultural centre, which together with the Tonhalle, the NRW Forum and the Museum Kunstpalast forms an important focal point in Düsseldorf's cultural life. With its high-quality, classical-contemporary interior design and excellent acoustics, the Robert Schumann Hall is an outstanding stage for our up-and-coming pianists in the ‘Discover Talents’ cycle.
